Rhythm Exercise for Aphasia and Stroke | Arms and Knees
Studies show that moving your body in rhythm along to an external sound like music can help improve speech, cognition and executive functioning. We like to add in a physical exercise as part of warm ups in our live online conversation classes for people with Aphasia, Parkinson’s and Survivors of Stroke and Brain Injury. Do this one with me and then try it with the first 1 minute 30 seconds of this video: ruclips.net/video/1YvdAZ9LMik/видео.html

    Thank you so much for this. My mom is experiencing aphasia post brain surgery. I can tell she is still “her,” she is still smart and she still makes familiar facial expressions and communication mannerisms. I know she will be getting speech therapy, but Medicare will dictate how often and how long. This video is beautiful because it is a short and easy but meaningful exercise I can do with her. I love your tip about cross-body motion building neural connections - I had no idea! Thank you!

    • @beyondhighc
      @beyondhighc 2 месяца назад

      I think this depends several factors. If you choose your next level goal and practice toward that each day (on your own but also with other people)- you will improve your voice. The better focused you are on your goal, and the more discplined you are in your prcatice, the faster you can improve. It is not enough to practice at home alone though- you must say things to people. The extra layer of nerves and complexity of interaction makes it harder for your words + ideas to come out the way you want. You can do it though!
